Mitered corners make a clean and professional finish to any garment with exposed hems. You'll find mitered corners in our #1011 Samurai & #1018 Taipei patterns.
Make a template for your mitered corners out of a piece of cardboard or poster board and store with your pattern.
Fold lower edge and opposing edge right sides together, at corner. It's as if you were folding a square paper napkin corner to corner, forming a triangle shape. |
|
Using the template, draw a stitching line at a 45 angle to the 1-½” hemline, by laying the template on the pointed end of the folded corner. Stitch on your marked line. DO NOT TRIM MITER. |
|
To turn to right side, open out miter until it forms a "square" shape, turn right side out easing out miter with a point turner. Press. |
